In the latter part of last year Wellwood House was awarded another certificate of excellence by tripadvisor. Needless to say we are delighted to see that so many guests liked our home and service enough to give us a five star rating. As a listed building there are limits to what can be done, but if we can recreate a sense of this building's original grandeur, then we feel certain our efforts are not wasted.

Summer has well and truly arrived in Pitlochry and the Wellwood House garden is blooming. With the beautiful weather we are having, guests are enjoying walks by the river and watching the salmon jump from the Fish Ladder and the banks of Loch Faskally. Walks are finished with a visit to Eradour Distillery for a wee dram - perfect summer evenings at Pitlochry!

Wellwood House in central Pitlochry is a fine  listed building, c. 1881, where those wishing to sample a little of the historic feel of Highland Perthshire are made most welcome. Winter storms create space for replanting in Wellwood's gardens. 3, 20 metre tall, Cyprus pines, probably planted when Wellwood was built, were blown over in the winter storms creating an open area for re-planting. Davy, our gardner , has already cleared the area and has plans to create a feature to impress the Pitlochry In Bloom judges in August. Our first year entering into Pitlochry in Bloom and we got an award! Our baskets, beds and bushes have been lovingly managed and coaxed into bloom our gardner who joined us about two years ago. We are absolutely thrilled that his hard work  has been recognised.  Keeping up the grounds of Wellwood is no mean feat.  Wading hunker deep into the pond to clear out the reed bed is not for the feint...
