Winter storms create space for replanting in Wellwood’s gardens.
3, 20 metre tall, Cyprus pines, probably planted when Wellwood was built, were blown over in the winter storms creating an open area for re-planting. Davy, our gardner , has already cleared the area and has plans to create a feature to impress the Pitlochry In Bloom judges in August. Winning a silver award last year has encouraged us to try even harder this year.
Highland Perthshire is Scotland’s prime lake-land and mountain destination and it requires time to see all that it offers.
Wellwood Manor is an ideal place for those wishing to see what Highland Perthshire has to offer. Loch Tummel, Loch Rannoch, and Loch Tay are within easy driving distance as are the many mountains surrounding the quaint villages and towns which have retained much of their authentic Scottish baronial look. Scottish castles and whisky distilleries proliferate the area in which we have a world class theatre and a recently protected, to be restored, old “picture house” cinema.
Steeped in history; Rob Roy, Jacobite battles, scientific studies, all have left their mark making it well worth a little extra time for exploration.
